About the role

Under the direction of the physician/provider, this position provides nursing care in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to implement care, nursing interventions and procedures necessary as the patient progresses through the perianesthesia phase of care in order to achieve optimal patient outcomes, under the direction of the RN.
  • Maintains up to date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the health care team, in order to ensure quality of care.
  • Demonstrates knowledge for administering and recording of medications, can also demonstrate knowledge of commonly used medications: action, dose and side effects.
  • Demonstrates routine assessments for PONV and implements appropriate rescue treatments.
  • Able to perform a comprehensive pain assessment using appropriate pain scales and uses both pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods to control pain.
  • Demonstrates knowledge in the care of the pediatric and geriatric population and their family/caregiver.
  • Provides for the safe transfer of care with a communication handoff to the next phase of care.
  • Functions as a role model for current and new staff.
  • Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure. Pursues professional growth and attends all required training programs.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree in nursing preferred. Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Ohio.

Qualifications

Experience in perioperative nursing is preferred but not required.

Skills

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in computer systems and software.

Commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Hours of Work: 30-40 hours per week - Monday 1pm-5pm, Tuesday 1pm-5pm, Wednesday 1pm-8pm, Thursday 1pm-4pm, Friday 8am-5pm, Saturday 8am-12pm (Monday/Tuesday/Thursday 8-5pm or 8-4pm depending on staffing needs).
