LPN/Medical Assistant/EMT - Pediatrics

About the role

HealthPartners is hiring for a full-time LPN/Medical Assistant/EMT position in the Pediatrics department at the Arden Hills clinic. The position is eligible for a sign-on bonus.

Responsibilities

• Identify common and recurring nursing needs of the patient.
• Recognize the need for and perform routine office procedures and testing in the ambulatory care setting.
• Absorb and provide direct care to patients and families.
• Document observations, actions, and patient outcomes.
• Teach techniques or provide information according to established programs.
• Accurately and appropriately document procedures and treatments in each patient's record.
• Communicate information to other members of the healthcare team.
• Provide the patient and family with current and accurate information regarding the procedure and care.
• Perform telephone screening under direction of RN or MD.
• Serve as a catalyst in improving standards of LPN practice.
• Serve as a role model for technical conduct and practice.
• Provide support to professional and technical staff.
• Solve problems appropriately seeking assistance from members of the healthcare team.
• Effect positive response from patients and other members of the healthcare team through interpersonal skills.

Medical Assistant/EMT Position Responsibilities

• Room patients and complete vital signs and other pertinent physical measurements.
• Administer medication and clinical procedures according to authorized policy and documented according to HealthPartners policy.
• This may include DISCUS or AIMS assessment.
• Review charts for the presence of pertinent information relevant to the patient’s appointment.
• This may include Prepared Practice work as developed by the team.
• Provide and document any needed and requested health educational materials to the patient.
• Handle patient and their records in a private and confidential manner per HealthPartners policy.
• Seek medical and/or nursing assistance when encountering an acutely ill patient or a patient with a changing condition.
• Prepare exam rooms and treatment rooms and set up for procedures.
• Absorb and assist the provider as needed.
• Prepare the patient for medical interventions.
• Prepare charts and records for appointments as indicated by the type of clinic visit according to established practices.
• Check MSRs for completion and route appropriately.
• Process drug refills according to clinic protocols.
• Maintain current practice by obtaining continuing education in relevant practice areas.
• Maintain CPR certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing for the LPN position.
• High school diploma or GED for the Medical Assistant/EMT position.
• Current LPN licensure in Minnesota for the LPN position.
• Current BLS certification for health professionals through the American Heart Association or Red Cross required and maintained.
• One year working experience as an LPN is preferred for the LPN position.
• Current Medical Assistant Certification or Registration through AAMA or AMT is preferred for the Medical Assistant/EMT position.

Pay

The pay for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience.
