About the Role

HealthPartners is hiring for an LPN, Medical Assistant, or EMT working in Primary Care at the Minneapolis Nokomis clinic. A sign-on bonus is available.

Qualifications

LPN Position

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current LPN licensure in Minnesota.
  • Current BLS certification for health professionals through the American Heart Association or Red Cross (in-person certification required; online certification is not acceptable).
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, including appropriate use of English grammar and spelling.
  • One year of working experience as an LPN is preferred.

Medical Assistant Position

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or graduate of an accredited EMT program with a current EMT license.
  • Current BLS certification for health professionals through the American Heart Association or Red Cross (in-person certification required; online certification is not acceptable).
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, including appropriate use of English grammar and spelling.
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification or Registration through AAMA or AMT is preferred.

Responsibilities

LPN Position

  • Identify common and recurring nursing needs of the patient.
  • Recognize the need for and perform routine office procedures and testing in the ambulatory care setting.
  • Assist patients to achieve basic health care goals.
  • Identify patient education needs, provide instruction, and refer appropriately.
  • Document observations, actions, and patient outcomes.
  • Provide safe, accurate, and clinically competent direct care to patients and families.
  • Recognize patient’s abnormalities or urgent problems and seek appropriate assistance.
  • Obtain health history information and accurate vital signs; recognize and report variances.
  • Teach techniques or provide information according to established programs.
  • Accurately and appropriately document procedures and treatment in each patient’s record.
  • Communicate information effectively to other members of the health care team.
  • Provide the patient and family with current and accurate information regarding procedures and care.
  • Perform telephone screening under the direction of an RN or MD.
  • Ensure patients’ rights to privacy, safety, and confidentiality.
  • Maintain current practice by obtaining continuing education in relevant areas.
  • Maintain CPR certification.
  • Serve as a catalyst in improving standards of LPN practice and as a role model for technical conduct.
  • Provide support to professional and technical staff.
  • Solve problems appropriately, seeking assistance from members of the healthcare team.
  • Demonstrate positive interpersonal skills to foster effective responses from patients and healthcare team members.

Medical Assistant Position

  • Room patients and complete vital signs and other pertinent physical measurements.
  • Administer medication and clinical procedures according to authorized policy and document per HealthPartners policy, including DISCUS or AIMS assessments.
  • Review charts for pertinent information relevant to the patient’s appointment, including Prepared Practice work.
  • Provide and document requested health educational materials to the patient.
  • Handle patient records in a private and confidential manner per HealthPartners policy.
  • Seek medical or nursing assistance when encountering an acutely ill patient or a patient with a changing condition.
  • Prepare exam and treatment rooms, set up for procedures, and assist providers as needed.
  • Prepare the patient for medical interventions.
  • Prepare charts and records for appointments according to clinic visit type and established practices; check MSRs for completion and route appropriately.
  • Prepare lab, x-ray, and miscellaneous forms as requested.
  • Process drug refills according to clinic protocols.
  • Monitor station logs as assigned.
  • Facilitate timely and accurate communication within the clinic.
  • Accurately receive and relay messages and test results to the appropriate person or location.
  • Gather necessary information from callers and relay it to the appropriate provider for follow-up.
  • Inform the reception desk of provider schedule status and assist in coordinating urgent and non-urgent schedule changes.
  • Perform patient correspondence when requested and assist patients in completing forms.
  • Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment according to procedure and OSHA standards.
  • Complete scheduled cleaning requirements for designated work areas and document completion for infection control and OSHA compliance.
  • Implement infection control procedures and adhere to protective clothing requirements.
  • Ensure clinic supplies are adequately stocked and well organized; process and deliver inventory requests in a timely manner.
  • Routinely check expiration dates and remove or replace outdated supplies.
  • Maintain the prescription sample supply cabinet per clinic protocol.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly maintained, records are kept, and instruments are calibrated and in working order.
