About the role
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional nursing care for patients of all ages in a structured care setting, adhering to Sanford’s policies and procedures. Collaborates with inter-professional colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement, and evaluate care. Demonstrates knowledge of nursing principles, performs testing to assess patient status, and interprets data to meet age-specific needs. Operates within the scope and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules, guided by the American Nurses Association’s Scope and Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional nursing care for patients of all ages.
- Collaborate with physicians and other inter-professional colleagues to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
- Perform testing to assess patient status and interpret data to identify patient needs relative to age-specific requirements.
- Administer medications and understand their effects on patients.
- Maintain required department-specific competencies, certifications, and annual continuing education units (CEUs).
- Adhere to the scope and standards of nursing practice as defined by state licensure and Sanford’s Professional Nursing Practice.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
- If IV therapy/management skills are required, completion of a Board-approved AASPN program where IV therapy is part of the curriculum or an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing (for North Dakota positions).
- Currently holds an unencumbered LPN license with the State Nursing board and/or multi-state licensure privileges.
- Obtains and maintains required department-specific competencies and certifications.
- Completes annual continuing education units (CEUs) and competency training requirements.

Pay
Starting rate: $22.50 - $31.50 per hour.
Schedule
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts.
- Job Schedule: Full time.
- Weekly Hours: 36.00.
