About the role
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional nursing care to residents in a long-term care setting, under supervision of healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities
- Assess residents
- Administer medications and treatments
- Ensure residents' health, comfort, and safety
- Document care activities
- Recognize health issues
- Recommend solutions
- Respond effectively to emergencies
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
- Communicate clearly while maintaining confidentiality
- Counsel residents and families on care plans and health education
- Perform testing
- Evaluate data
- Support resident self-care programs
- Maintain required competencies, certifications, and complete ongoing education
Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program
- Active LPN license
- Experience in clinical settings (preferred)
- IV therapy skills (preferred, if applicable)
