LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - Bethany - PRN - Various Shifts

Facility: GSS MN Brainerd Bethany – a 79-bed long-term skilled care and transitional care facility in Brainerd, Minnesota (“The Heart of the Brainerd Lakes Area”).

About the role

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long-term care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. Demonstrates knowledge of nursing principles for the resident in the relevant clinical setting and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge, utilizing appropriate age and population-specific standards related to the physical and psychosocial needs of the resident as per care plan. Performs testing to evaluate data reflective of the resident's status and responds effectively to assist in emergent situations. Ensures the health, comfort, and safety of residents, contributes to resident assessments, and administers medications or treatments as ordered. Provides technical support to healthcare professionals as needed and documents resident interactions and outcomes. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with residents, healthcare providers, and the public. Communicates clearly, maintains confidentiality, and counsels residents, family members, or advocates under direction. Develops self-care programs based on resident education principles and performs other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate competency and practice within the full scope of nursing expertise, using age and population-specific standards.
• Perform testing to evaluate resident status and respond effectively in emergent situations.
• Ensure the health, comfort, and safety of residents; contribute to resident assessments.
• Administer medications or treatments as ordered and provide technical support to healthcare professionals.
• Document resident interactions, outcomes related to care, medication, behavior, activity, and dietary needs.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents, healthcare providers, and the public.
• Communicate clearly and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Counsel residents, family members, or advocates on prevention and treatment plans under direction.
• Develop self-care programs based on resident education principles.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse; Associate degree in practical nursing preferred.
• If IV therapy/management skills are required: graduation from a Board-approved AASPN program where IV therapy is part of the curriculum or completion of an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing.
• Pre-licensure nursing program must include supervised clinical experience across the life span or a minimum of 400 hours of LPN experience at another facility.
• Currently hold an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with the State Nursing board and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges.
• Obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications.
• Complete required annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training.

Schedule

• PRN/On-Call position with various shifts available (Days, Evenings, and Nights).
• Must be available to work 6 shifts per month, including two weekend shifts and holiday rotation.
• Additional weekend incentive: $1.25 per hour.
• Additional shift incentive: $1.25 per hour for any hours worked from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM.

Pay

Salary range: $29.00 - $36.00 per hour.
