Role Purpose
The Staff LPN Ambulatory is responsible for providing direct patient care under the supervision of a physician or other licensed provider in an ambulatory care setting. Tasks may include rooming patients, obtaining vitals, administering medications, initiating/discontinuing IV fluids, performing point of care lab tests, assisting with procedures, and triaging patient phone calls.
Responsibilities
- Provides general nursing services to patients under the supervision of a physician or other licensed provider within the scope of practice for the LPN.
- Performs clinical skills such as phlebotomy, EKGs, point of care testing, and medication administration.
- Aids in medical office procedures and initiates/discontinues IV fluids as directed.
- Fulfills HIPAA, CLIA, OSHA, Medication Management, and Infection Prevention procedures for equipment/cleaning and sterilization.
- Obtains vital signs, patient history, and maintains accurate and timely charting in the patient's record.
- Triage calls, provides test and lab results to patients, and presents relevant information to the provider using correct medical terminology.
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Nursing Experience
- No Supervisory Experience Required
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - IV Certification
Preferred Requirements
- Nursing Education at an Associate or Trade School level
