LPN - General Medical Surgical (36 hrs) Jefferson
4 West is a 36-bed medical-surgical unit including a 4-bed bariatric surgery recovery area. The unit specializes in the care of post-operative patients from adolescence to adulthood, as well as patients with a variety of diagnoses and levels of care relating to all body systems, including diabetes management, cellulitis, wound/ostomy care, and failure to thrive in the older adult.
About the Role
This role is a member of the direct care healthcare team and is responsible for providing care to patients and families under the direction of the registered nurse.
Responsibilities
- Performs general nursing care within the LPN scope of practice.
- Assists with the preparation of equipment and aids the clinical provider (registered nurse, advanced practice nurse, and/or physician) during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.
- Collects assessment data, prepares patient for examination, and documents clinical information on patient records. Reports any changes in patients' condition to the registered nurse, advanced practice nurse, or physician.
- Orders diagnostic tests as directed by the clinical provider and gathers or examines results prior to physician/clinical provider assessment.
- Schedules procedures and obtains authorizations, as necessary, under the direction/oversight of the registered nurse.
- Assists nursing and medical staff with basic medical tasks such as administering medications, blood and tissue collection, and/or other laboratory specimens; prepares patients for testing.
- Other duties as assigned or requested.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) OR current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
- CPR certification – American Heart Association.
- Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
- Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
- Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
Qualifications
Preferred:
- 1 year of experience in healthcare.
- PALS or ACLS certification.
- State-approved IV course certification.
- Knowledge of EPIC documentation and assessment process.
