About the Role

The Licensed Practical Nurse provides skilled technical nursing care to patients according to predefined standards and a plan of care established by a Nurse Practitioner or Physician. Assumes other duties as assigned. Care is delivered in accordance with the MS Nurse Practice Act, CDC Guidelines for Infection Control, and Singing River Health System’s Plan for Provision of Care, Treatment and Services.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care utilizing the MS Nurse Practice Act and Singing River Health System policies.
• Perform duties in accordance with accreditation standards and governing healthcare publications.
• Adhere to infection control protocols and safety guidelines.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure patient-centered care.
• Demonstrate clinical judgment and apply professional skills across all patient age groups.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing program for Licensed Practical Nursing.
• Current State of Mississippi LPN license; expanded role licensure preferred.
• BCLS certification required upon hire and/or transfer.
• De-escalation training must be completed by the end of orientation (90 days).
• 6 months of nursing experience preferred.

• Proficient in computer use, including MS Outlook, Word, and office technology.
• Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet deadlines in high-stress environments.
• Strong assessment, decision-making, and clinical judgment abilities.
• Emotional stability and ability to maintain collaborative working relationships.
• Keyboard proficiency and ability to operate standard office equipment.

Physical Demands

• Moderately active work involving frequent movement within the facility and occasional travel to other SRHS locations.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects, including the human body, with negligible exertion.
• Exposure to body fluids, sputum, and tissues, with potential infectious disease hazards.
• Repetitive motions, including wrist, hand, and finger movements (e.g., typing, computer use).
• Close visual acuity and ability to adjust focus between computer monitors and printed materials.
• Ability to work extended periods without undue fatigue.
• Flexibility to work assigned schedules, including off days, shifts, or weekends as needed.

Mental Demands

• Keen mental faculties for assessment and decision-making.
• Ability to perceive and discriminate sounds at normal speaking levels.
• Attention to detail and ability to multi-task in complex situations.
