LPN Evening Shift - BJ Roberts Behavioral Health Center

About the role

The Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board (H-NNCSB) is seeking a compassionate and dependable Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join the team at the BJ Roberts Behavioral Health Center in Hampton. BJ Roberts provides urgent behavioral health services in a calm, therapeutic setting designed to support individuals experiencing acute mental health and substance use challenges. As an LPN, you'll play an important role in providing safe, compassionate nursing care and supporting individuals throughout their treatment and stabilization. Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care and medication management to adults receiving behavioral health and substance use services, including controlled substances and methadone when applicable.
• Complete physical and mental health assessments, intake and follow-up interviews, and supportive nursing interventions.
• Monitor medication orders, inventories, secure storage, counts, and documentation to ensure safe and compliant medication practices.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, providers, and the multidisciplinary team, communicating changes in condition and clinical concerns as needed.
• Maintain accurate clinical records while supporting a safe, therapeutic environment for individuals receiving crisis and behavioral health services.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited LPN nursing program.
• One year of medication administration experience in substance abuse treatment, psychiatric care, or long-term care (including dispensing narcotic medication).
• Must pass criminal history fingerprint background investigation, DMV record check, Child Registry search, drug screening test, and employment reference checks.

Pay

Salary: $52,278 per year + $2.50/hr shift differential for evening, overnight, and weekend hours. Sign‑On Bonus: $3,000 (current H-NNCSB staff or those employed within the past year are not eligible).

Schedule

Evening Shift: 3 pm to 11:30 pm with rotating weekends.
