Job Description
The In-basket clinical coordinator will report to the In-basket Lead and will be the first line of contact for all requests from physicians and patients related to primary care. This role involves handling tasks such as patient advice requests, result notes, refill encounters, prior authorizations, and more.
About the Role
This position has the flexibility to be a hybrid role, working remotely or in-person as needed. The entity responsible for this position is Carolina Family Care, Inc., and the pay grade is Health-24 with scheduled weekly hours of 40.
Responsibilities
- Ensures accurate calibrations, cleaning, and scheduled maintenance of clinical/lab equipment as required by OSHA, DHEC, and UMA, tracked by documentation.
- Maintains and reviews patient records, charts, and any other pertinent information, communicating as appropriate.
- Documents test and exam results and communicates the plan of care to the patient, including the development of patient education materials as necessary.
- Maintains exam room supplies, instruments, and ensures the cleanliness of the patient care environment, adhering to OSHA, DHEC, and UMA guidelines.
- Maintains a timely flow of patient care, assists with scheduling appointments and referrals based on urgency and availability, screens patients for appropriate information, and provides patient education as necessary.
- Observes, records, and reports the patient's physical and psychosocial condition, reactions to medication and treatments to the physician.
- Responds to and trims phone calls, calls in orders as ordered by the physician, instructs patients regarding treatment and/or medication, and monitors and distributes medications, including samples and controlled substances.
- Trims patients and prepares for physician exams and procedures, assists with exams, procedures, and treatments as necessary, instructs patients on sample collection and tests, administers prescribed treatments and tests as ordered by the physician.
Requirements
- CMA: High School diploma or equivalent, completion of an accredited medical assisting program with one year of patient experience preferred. Certification through AMT, AAMA, NHA, MedCA, CCMA, or NCCT is required. Current BLS certification is mandatory.
- LPN: Graduation from a recognized Licensed Practical Nursing program and licensed as an LPN within the State of South Carolina or with a compact state license. Current South Carolina LPN License or compact state license is required. Current BLS certification is mandatory.
