About the role

Cleveland Clinic Florida provides comprehensive, compassionate children’s healthcare services focused on the health and well-being of our youngest patients. In addition to general pediatric care, caregivers also have special interests in a number of childhood-related developmental issues, conditions and diseases. As an LPN on this pediatrics team, you will assist fellow caregivers in providing this exceptional, top-quality care.

Responsibilities

  • Rooming patients
  • Processing in-basket items
  • Administering medication
  • Maintaining complete and accurate documentation in medical records and files
  • Completing authorization forms and laboratory requisitions
  • Implementing pain management assessments and documentation
  • Performing patient teaching as needed under the supervision of RN/Physician
  • Adhering to the National Patient Safety Goals as outlined by JCAHO
  • Following Code Blue protocol

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Program
  • Current Florida licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Knowledge of Infection Control Practices
  • Experience with technology
  • Computer literacy

Preferred qualifications

  • One year of clinical experience

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent walking, sitting, and standing
  • Frequent talking and listening when giving instructions and explanations
  • Frequent use of the phone; fax machines, and occasional use of the computer
  • Lifting and moving patients, carrying equipment, supplies, and material up to 50 pounds without help and over 50 pounds with the help of mechanical devices or other personnel
  • Stooping, pushing, and pulling when moving a patient into position for treatment; also reaching, handling, feeling, and manipulating equipment into position
  • The majority of the time employee spends indoors in air-conditioned areas
  • Potential for exposure to blood and blood-borne pathogens

  • Short- and Long-term Disability Coverage – Short-term disability is available after one continuous year of regular full-time service; long-term disability begins after 90 days.
  • Cleveland Clinic Investment Pension Plan offers eligible employees an excellent opportunity to build a retirement account for the future. It is fully funded by Cleveland Clinic and equal to 2.5% of your salary (increasing with more years of service).
