About the role

Tradition Hospital is looking to add an LPN to the team who will float between the Neurology, Neurosurgery and Pain specialties. As an LPN, you will assist fellow caregivers in providing exceptional, top-quality care to a diverse patient population. In this role, you can make a lasting difference in the lives of patients, all while enhancing your nursing skills through hands-on experience and numerous educational resources offered within the Cleveland Clinic system.

A caregiver in this position works days from 8:30AM – 5:00PM or 8:00AM – 4:30PM.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional nursing care to patients.
  • Administer medication.
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation in medical records and files.
  • Complete authorization forms and laboratory requisitions.
  • Implement pain management assessments and documentation.
  • Recognize changes in patients' status and report pertinent information to Charge Nurse or Physicians.
  • Educate patients, families and others.
  • Adhere to the National Patient Safety Goals as outlined by JCAHO.
  • Follow Code Blue protocol.
  • Assess, plan, coordinate, monitor and evaluate the patients progress through the entire continuum of care in conjunction with the R.N. or physician.

Requirements

  • Graduate of Accredited LPN program
  • Florida Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
  • Knowledge of infection control practices
  • Experience with technology
  • Computer literacy

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of clinical experience

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent walking, sitting, and standing.
  • Frequent talking and listening when giving instruction and explanations.
  • Frequent use of the phone, fax machines, and occasional use of the computer.
  • Work is heavy: constant lifting and moving patients, carrying equipment, supplies and material up to 50 pounds without help and over 50 pounds with the help of mechanical devices or other personnel.
  • Stooping, pushing and pulling when moving patient into position for treatment.
  • Reaching, handling, feeling and manipulation of equipment into position.

Working Conditions

  • The majority of the time employee spends indoors in air-conditioned areas.
  • The potential for exposure to blood and blood borne pathogens is significant.
  • Clinical exposure to patients requires the use of personal protective equipment.

Personal Protective Equipment

  • This position is high exposure to infectious wastes such as blood and bodily fluids that mandate the wearing of gloves, masks, gowns, and goggles as appropriate.
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
