As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Family Medicine team at St. Lucie West Medical Center, you will assist fellow caregivers in providing exceptional, top-quality care to a diverse patient population. In this role, you can make a lasting difference in the lives of patients while enhancing your nursing skills through hands-on experience and numerous educational resources offered within the Cleveland Clinic system.

Responsibilities

  • Rooming intakes, med-well visits, vaccinations, in-baskets, and answering the pharmacy line
  • Hospital discharge follow-up documentation and authorizations
  • Provide professional nursing care to patients
  • Administer medication
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation in medical records and files
  • Complete authorization forms and laboratory requisitions
  • Implement pain management assessments and documentation
  • Recognize changes in patients' status and report pertinent information to Charge Nurse or Physicians
  • Adhere to the National Patient Safety Goals as outlined by JCAHO
  • Follow Code Blue protocol

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited LPN program
  • Florida Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
  • Knowledge of infection control practices
  • Experience with technology and computer literacy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
  • One year of clinical experience

Schedule

This position works Monday-Friday from 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM. Start/end times may vary based on the needs of the department.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent walking, sitting, and standing
  • Frequent talking and listening when giving instruction and explanations
  • Frequent use of the phone, fax machines, and occasional use of the computer
  • Constant lifting and moving patients, carrying equipment, supplies, and material up to 50 pounds without help and over 50 pounds with the help of mechanical devices or other personnel
  • Stooping, pushing, and pulling when moving patients into position for treatment
  • Reaching, handling, feeling, and manipulation of equipment into position

Working Conditions

  • The majority of the time is spent indoors in air-conditioned areas
  • Potential for exposure to blood and bloodborne pathogens is significant
  • Clinical exposure to patients requires the use of personal protective equipment
  • High exposure to infectious wastes such as blood and bodily fluids mandates the wearing of gloves, masks, gowns, and goggles as appropriate
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures
