About the role
The Licensed Practical Nurse under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, CCSNC, administers medically prescribed treatment, coordinates nursing care, and monitors the performance of acceptable standards of nursing care on his/her assigned nursing unit.
Responsibilities
- Administers medically prescribed treatment
- Carefully coordinates nursing care
- Makes sure the performance of acceptable standards of nursing care is met on his/her assigned nursing unit
- Participates in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care
- Provides care needed as described in the Nursing Department's policies and procedures
- Exercises supervision over a team leader
- Manages jobs reporting to this position: Nurse Aides
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program
- Minimum of one (1) year of satisfactory experience in geriatric setting preferred
- Clearances required: PA State Police criminal history check and PA Department of Aging FBI fingerprint clearance (if applicable)
- Possession of a current license as a Licensed Practical Nurse issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nurse Examiners required OR eligible for such licensure
- CPR Certification required or must be obtained and must be maintained
- Maintains the standards of nursing care and implements the policies and procedures of the Nursing Department and Allied Services
- Good verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills required for effective interaction with staff, residents and visitors
- Good Management Skills Required
Special employment requirements
- Heavy Work: duties require exerting 50-100 lbs. of force occasionally (approx 33-66% of the time), and/or 25-50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or 10-25 lbs. of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects
- Works in resident living areas
- Accident or health hazards: occasional exposure to blood and body substances. Exposure to needle sticks possible
