Clinical Scope

• Serves as a Practical Nurse performing patient care and nursing administrative duties for outpatients in accordance with established policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
• Maintains and records age appropriate physiological measurements.
• Orients new patients to the clinic/hospital environment.
• Affords assistance with patient check-ins, admissions, discharges, and transfers as directed.
• Provides individualized patient teaching on appropriate topics to include preventative healthcare and health maintenance.
• Completes intake forms completely and accurately.
• Ensures the medication history and historical reconciliations are both complete and accurate.
• Affords support for procedural testing such as coronary Computed Tomography Angiogram (CTA), cardiac catheterization, cardiac electrophysiology and device procedures, and advanced echocardiographic studies.
• Supports ambulatory ECG ordering, scheduling, data/information download into the Cardiovascular Picture Archival Communication System (CVPACS).
• Affords support for order reconciliation within the CVPACS.
• Performs electrocardiograms.
• Prepares and positions patients for diagnostic testing, examinations, treatments, and clinical procedures.
• Performs appropriate portions of medical examinations, treatment, diagnostic, and clinical procedures.
• Records treatment, procedure rendered, and observed effects.
• Identifies and records patient problems and appropriately notifies provider/nursing team of observations.
• Prepares and administers medications in accordance with scope of practice and training.

Requirements

• U.S. citizen
• Must have successfully completed all education and training requirements leading to and graduated from an accredited national, state or military equivalent school for Practical Nursing.
• Experience performing care and treatment of patients; operating and maintaining therapeutic equipment.
• Hands on experience for the last 12 months within the past 12 months
• BLS from American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• Maintain a LPN license and practice from US jurisdiction
