Clinical Scope
- Serves as a Practical Nurse performing patient care and nursing administrative duties for outpatients in accordance with established policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
- Maintains and records age appropriate physiological measurements.
- Orients new patients to the clinic/hospital environment.
- Affords assistance with patient check-ins, admissions, discharges, and transfers as directed.
- Provides individualized patient teaching on appropriate topics to include preventative healthcare and health maintenance.
- Completes intake forms completely and accurately.
- Ensures the medication history and historical reconciliations are both complete and accurate.
- Affords support for procedural testing such as coronary Computed Tomography Angiogram (CTA), cardiac catheterization, cardiac electrophysiology and device procedures, and advanced echocardiographic studies.
- Supports ambulatory ECG ordering, scheduling, data/information download into the Cardiovascular Picture Archival Communication System (CVPACS).
- Affords support for order reconciliation within the CVPACS.
- Performs electrocardiograms.
- Prepares and positions patients for diagnostic testing, examinations, treatments, and clinical procedures.
- Performs appropriate portions of medical examinations, treatment, diagnostic, and clinical procedures.
- Records treatment, procedure rendered, and observed effects.
- Identifies and records patient problems and appropriately notifies provider/nursing team of observations.
- Prepares and administers medications in accordance with scope of practice and training.
Requirements
- U.S. citizen
- Must have successfully completed all education and training requirements leading to and graduated from an accredited national, state or military equivalent school for Practical Nursing.
- Experience performing care and treatment of patients; operating and maintaining therapeutic equipment.
- Hands on experience for the last 12 months within the past 12 months
- BLS from American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- Maintain a LPN license and practice from US jurisdiction
