LPN

About the role

Under the supervision of the nurse manager, the LPN works closely with others as needed in the Acute Care Medical/Surgical areas and Primary Care setting throughout Charleston VA and surrounding Community Based Outpatient Clinics. The LPN functions both dependently and independently with guidance and direction from the Nurse Manager/designee. May be utilized as needed in the Acute Care Medical/Surgical areas, in ambulatory/outpatient care clinics, and outpatient lab.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, administer, and appropriately document actions taken for commonly prescribed oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and/or intravenous medications as permitted by approved local facility policies and procedures.
• Observe and document patient’s response to medication administered and report any noted change in patient’s condition to RN or MD/DO.
• Serve as a responsible member of the nursing team and interact appropriately with patients, family members, professional and supportive personnel involved in the delivery of patient care, incorporating established customer service standards into practice.

Requirements

Must have active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
