Pay

$39,980.08 – 41,791.12 (10 months / 196 days). Additional compensation from the Millage initiative will be awarded annually. For the 2026-2027 school year, the amount will be determined by NESPA bargaining and ratification and will be prorated from July 1, 2026. The amount for the 2025-2026 school year was $6,127.

Qualifications

  • Licensed as a practical nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464.
  • Must maintain license during employment.
  • Certified in CPR and maintain certification during employment.
  • Preferred experience in pediatric nursing.

Responsibilities

  • Perform invasive and non-invasive medical procedures required and ordered by student's physicians, including but not limited to tube feeding, cleaning and maintaining a tracheostomy, catheterization, monitoring blood glucose, and administering emergency injectable medication.
  • Maintain adequate records for documentation of nursing procedures performed on a routine basis.
  • Administer medications to students as prescribed by the student's physician. The need for this medication to be administered by the nurse must be documented in compliance with the rules of the NCSB.
  • Collect health-related information and provide this information to the student's physician and/or parent as directed.
  • Provide basic first aid and attend to students' health needs as indicated in the School Health Services Manual.
  • Teach selected students selected procedures.
  • Maintain effective and productive operations of designated health room and/or treatment sites, including clinic supplies.
  • Practice universal infection control procedures.
  • Attend student scheduled meetings when nursing input is required.
  • Contact the Office of Intervention and Prevention, the Nassau County Health Department, and the student's physician as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Office of Intervention and Prevention.
  • Provide health education to students.
  • Uphold the best interests of students, staff, and community in support of the District's Mission Statement.

Physical Requirements

Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force as needed to move objects.
