Lower School Instructional Aide

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Instructional Aide to support our instructional team in delivering high-quality education to students. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about fostering a positive learning environment and assisting with classroom activities.

Responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher in classroom management and organization.
• Provide one-on-one or small-group instruction to students as directed.
• Prepare materials and set up equipment for lessons and activities.
• Monitor student behavior and reinforce positive conduct.
• Support students with special needs, including those with IEPs or 504 plans.
• Assist in implementing lesson plans and reinforcing concepts taught by the lead teacher.
• Help maintain a safe and inclusive classroom environment.
• Provide feedback to the lead teacher regarding student progress and needs.
• Assist with classroom supervision during non-instructional times, such as lunch or recess.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the instructional team or administration.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework preferred.
• Prior experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting is a plus.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and students.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy, and a commitment to supporting diverse learners.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational software/tools.
• Must pass a background check and meet any state or district requirements for instructional aides.
