Details Posted: 29-Jun-26 Location: ROCHESTER, New York Type: Full Time Salary: $47,000 - $70,000 Categories Early Childhood Elementary Teacher The Harley School seeks a full-time early childhood music teacher for the 2026-27 school year. The primary responsibility for the position is teaching music and movement to Nursery (3 and 4-year olds) and Kindergarten students. The Lower School music teacher will have a strong pedagogical approach to teaching music and creative expression, as well as work closely with the classroom teachers and other specialists to integrate content areas, as appropriate. In addition to working with the Lower School faculty, the music teacher will also work closely with all members of the music department, the department chair, and Lower School division head. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Teach N - K Grade music classesAssist with weekly Lower School AssembliesContribute to the musical life of the schoolFulfill duties which support the Lower School (bus duty, faculty meetings, open houses)Provide written student-progress reports to the school and families at regular intervalsCollaborate on the creation and production of the annual Lower School PageantBe involved in the school community at large Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Music Education (or related field); graduate degree preferredKnowledge of and experience with one or more pedagogical approaches to teaching early childhood music and creative expression (e.g., Dalcroze, Kodály, MLT, Orff, etc.)Experience teaching 3-5 year oldsPiano proficiency Commitment to process over product, play-based learningRespect and appreciation for the idea that all children are musicalCulturally responsive approach to music education and classroom repertoire. Excellent written and oral communication skills3+ years of teaching experienceEnthusiastic about collaborative learning; creative and innovative when working with diverse learners and faculty.
