Reporting to the Assistant Head of School for Learning and Teaching, the Assistant Teacher will join a high functioning team including a lead teacher and learning specialists. Long term substitute assistant teachers are paid $180.00/day and are eligible for accrued sick time under Massachusetts law. Position Responsibilities Work directly with students as directed by the Lead Teacher (e.g. working with an individual student or small group, conferencing, etc.) to inspire and challenge all learners. Assist the Lead Teacher in ensuring that all students are receiving appropriate accommodations.Assist the Lead Teacher during transition times to and from specialists.Demonstrate leadership under the direction of the Lead Teacher--i.e., taking charge of a classroom when the Lead Teacher is absent; developing some areas of the curriculum for specific groups of students; creating activities for morning meetings.Participate in weekly planning meetings with the Lead Teacher.Assist the Lead Teacher in classroom set-up.Support the Lead Teacher with the writing and proofreading of report cards. Assist the Lead Teacher with other responsibilities such as photocopying, lesson preparation and set-up, maintaining bulletin boards, correcting student work, etc. Attend grade level meetings.Participate in Parent-Teacher Conferences.Share duties (recess, lunch, etc.) set by the Assistant Head of School for Academic Operations and Culture.Participate in T’fillah, Kabbalat Shabbat (worship services), and other holiday celebrations.
