About the role
Per Scholas is seeking a Low Voltage and Telecom instructor to join our Remote Training Team. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, problem-solving, and possesses strong technical and instructional skills. You should demonstrate adaptability in a dynamic environment and maintain accountability while delivering high-quality instruction that meets clients’ and learners’ expectations.
Responsibilities
- Support instructor-led training preparing students for entry-level to mid-level careers in low voltage and telecom, including daily instruction, assessment administration, attendance tracking, one-on-one tutoring, and monitoring individual student progress.
- Address student violations consistently and provide access to relevant resources for outside learning on technologies and study aids.
- Collaborate with the team to identify student needs, provide support, establish individualized achievement plans, and participate in regular student-status meetings.
- Maintain and update Salesforce and/or our LMS with student grades, certification scores, and progress notes.
- Support and maintain training curricula, syllabi, lesson plans, and other classroom materials.
Requirements
- 1-3 years of teaching or training experience.
- Strong technical background with the ability to grasp and convey highly technical subject matter.
- Ability to respond clearly to live digital conversations via platforms like Zoom or in-person environments.
- Strong communication skills and commitment to ongoing professional development, including applicable certifications and coursework to stay current with evolving technology trends.
- Required certifications (one of the following):
- CompTIA Network+
- Cisco certification (e.g., CCNA)
- Specialized cabling certification (e.g., BICSI Installer)
- ESA Certified Alarm Technician Level
- Preferred qualifications:
- Network Engineering experience with devices such as firewalls, routers, switches, and wireless access points.
- Experience troubleshooting hardware/software (e.g., "Computer Break/Fix").
- Experience supporting rack servers (Dell PowerEdge / HP Proliant).
- Operating systems support.
- Experience as a corporate trainer or prior instructional experience.
- Knowledge of industry-standard cable specifications and low-voltage topology (MDF, IDF, CDF).
- Low-voltage support and experience in a data center environment.
- Ability to write content and curriculum related to instructional outcomes.
- Ability to train and secure Cisco Network Essentials certification.
- OSHA 10-Hour Online Training Courses.
- NFPA 70E - Electrical Safety Training.

Pay
Hourly rate: $40.00 - $45.00. The difference in rate is determined by factors such as geography and alignment with qualifications and experience.
