Low Voltage Technician
About the role
The Cable Technician plays a vital role in the installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic and coaxial cable systems across diverse environments, including residential properties, office buildings, and large commercial facilities. This position ensures the reliable delivery of high-speed internet and communication services.
Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain fiber optic systems to ensure peak performance.
- Perform precise splicing of coaxial cables across various types and sizes.
- Execute efficient splicing for aerial and underground installations, including span replacements, single-dwelling units (SDUs), small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs), and relocation projects.
- Identify and replace damaged or obsolete fiber optic infrastructure.
- Diagnose and resolve connectivity issues in fiber networks.
- Evaluate job sites to mitigate risks associated with faulty installations.
- Monitor and document signal strength for services such as television, internet, and telephone.
- Conduct live splicing on active devices with accuracy and minimal disruption.
- Maintain and update network documentation, including system layouts and design schematics.
- Educate customers on installed services and assist with the setup of personal equipment.
Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience in cable installation preferred.
- Strong digital literacy; comfortable with tablets, spreadsheets, project tracking tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, calmly, and assertively.
- Capable of making independent decisions and solving problems under pressure.
Skills
- Proficient in fiber optic and coaxial cable installation and maintenance.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve connectivity issues in fiber networks.
- Knowledge of network documentation and system layouts.
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
