Low Voltage Technician

About the role

The Communications Technician II is responsible for performing technical responsibilities of a Cable Installer and leading a team of installers. They are expected to coordinate small groups of installers, adhere to safety and quality standards, and manage projects effectively.

Responsibilities

• Install work area outlets and mount face plates and surface mount boxes.
• Build and install backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, and fiber optic hardware.
• Perform grounding for racks, equipment, and cable.
• Complete IDC connections and perform testing on horizontal and riser cables.
• Identify active voice or data circuits and troubleshoot issues.
• Train and coordinate personnel to ensure project timelines are met.
• Accurately complete IES COMMERCIAL paperwork and adhere to quality and safety standards.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• Self-motivated, positive approach, professional demeanor.
• Proven problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to see and distinguish different colors, read small print, and hear audible signals.
• Physical abilities to work at heights, lift up to 50 pounds, and move up to 75 pounds.
• Proficient with listed tools and able to interpret blueprints and project documents.
• Knowledge of universal communications color codes.
• Must have at least a High School diploma or GED equivalency.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in telecommunications or related technical field.
• Must be able to travel within the branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.

• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in telecommunications or related technical field.
• Proficiency with listed tools.
• Ability to interpret blueprints and project documents.
• Knowledge of universal communications color codes.

Career Path

The successful candidate may progress to the position of Lead Communications Technician after meeting the minimum years of experience requirement.

Pay

Min USD $21.00/Yr. Max USD $32.00/Yr.

Schedule

Regular attendance is mandatory.
