About the role

Amteck, a nationally recognized Top 50 Electrical Design-Build Contractor, is seeking a Superintendent to drive excellence in its cutting-edge Technologies division. This role involves supervising project execution and guiding teams in the installation, repair, termination, certification, and troubleshooting of low voltage systems.

Responsibilities

  • Leads teams up to 10 team members and performs hands-on work to install, repair, terminate, certify, and troubleshoot devices and cabling of low voltage systems.
  • Works with the Tech Project Manager to establish and follow a budget, manage labor hours, committed costs, and material costs.
  • Communicates with the Tech Project Manager regarding completed tasks, potential issues, and manpower requirements in advance.
  • Prepares progress reports and collaborates with the Tech Project Manager to prepare monthly projections critical for accurate cash flow and profits.
  • Ensures work is carried out safely and to industry standards; maintains safety policies, industry standards, and work procedures.
  • Manages and completes service calls involving troubleshooting and identifying faults with various systems.
  • Maintains task and punch lists for projects and oversees their completion.
  • Completes closeout documentation including As-Builts, test results, and Customer System Training.
  • Maintains drawings and labeling for use in close-out documents.
  • Manages and plans inventory and materials for next-day tasks, as well as weekly and two-week look-aheads.
  • Collaborates with the Tech Project Manager to evaluate field personnel working under their supervision, as needed.
  • Plans daily, weekly, and two-week look-ahead tasks, including continual pre-planning needed to achieve specified tasks and timelines.
  • Builds out MDF, IDF, enclosures, ladder tray, baskets, and installs 2-4 post racks.
  • Punch downs, routes, labels, and dresses all cabling into racks or enclosures correctly and accurately.
  • Installs one or more of the following without supervision: head-end equipment, switches, horizontal management, vertical management, UPS systems, patch cables, cross-connect or patch-in copper, and/or fiber systems.
  • Identifies differences in multi-mode and single-mode fiber, uses certifiers, and interprets copper and fiber test results.
  • Participates in leadership training when given the opportunity.
  • Identifies and communicates any delays or obstacles to assigned tasks or service.
  • Works independently to determine and install pathways.
  • Performs skilled work while overcoming common environmental challenges such as working in cramped areas, overhead, at heights, and in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Works cooperatively with others in a professional and productive manner.
  • Acts quickly in emergency situations and performs under pressure.
  • Completes tasks accurately and productively, seeking guidance for unclear aspects of the task and immediately seeking new tasks when the current task is finished.
  • Keeps detailed records of device and cabling locations.
  • Understands firestopping, riser, and plenum environments.
  • Leads and coaches teams of Technicians; capable of leading larger teams as needed.
  • Works with and around other construction trades in a professional, productive, and safe manner.
  • Performs skillful, controlled manipulations of small objects such as small electronic parts.
  • Reads a measuring tape to 1/16 of an inch.
  • Provides personal hand tools needed to perform routine work within 30 days of employment, as per Amteck's tool list.
  • Demonstrates a basic understanding of customer relationships and the concept of customer satisfaction, with an aptitude for growing that skill.
  • Able to use hand and power tools safely and cautiously.
  • Able to read blueprints, schematics, drawing details, wire maps, and other drawings, including reading and understanding specifications of IDF and data closet enclosures.

Requirements

  • 5-6 years of verified experience minimum with low voltage systems and cabling.
  • Some proven experience supervising or training others on this type of work.
  • Understanding of budgets, labor hours, material and committed costs and how that applies to a job site.
  • Able to correctly and accurately complete relevant documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience with one or more of the following systems: Infrastructure (ITS), Access Control/Security, Cameras (CCTV), and Paging.
  • Able to install cable and/or wires into Access Control/Security panels and modules.
  • Demonstrated experience installing devices for one or more of the following systems: Infrastructure (ITS), Access Control/Security, Access Points (Wi-Fi), Cameras (CCTV), and Paging.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and identifying faults for one or more of the following systems: Copper, Fiber, AV, Cameras, and Access Control/Security Systems.
  • Understands POE requirements for Cameras (CCTV).
  • Has or is able to obtain relevant manufacturer certifications.
  • Experience with build out of MDF, IDF, enclosures, ladder tray, baskets, and installing 2-4 post racks.
  • Experience with punch down, routing, labeling, and dressing all cabling coming into racks or enclosures correctly and accurately.
  • Experience with installing Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems and equipment into racks or enclosures.
  • Experience with cross-connect or patch-in copper, and fiber systems.
  • Able to identify and terminate data jacks and mod plugs; and properly feed cable, fiber, and/or wires.
  • Able to use, operate, and maintain test equipment, and interpret copper and fiber test results.
  • Able to use fluke testing software, COINS, Box, PlanGrid, and related software programs to perform job responsibilities.
  • Can maintain clear and detailed records as needed.
  • Understands firestopping, riser, and plenum spaces, and specs needed for each.
  • Knowledge of BICSI, ANSI, TIA standards and NEC codes for Low Voltage installations.
  • Must be able to read a measuring tape to 1/16 of an inch.
  • Provides personal hand tools needed to perform routine work within 30 days of employment, as per Amteck’s tool list.
  • Demonstrates a basic understanding of customer relationships and the concept of customer satisfaction, with an aptitude for growing that skill.
  • Able to use hand and power tools safely and cautiously.
  • Able to read blueprints, schematics, drawing details, wire maps, and other drawings, including reading and understanding specifications of IDF and data closet enclosures.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Schedule

Typically, the schedule is Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work as needed.
