Low Voltage Superintendent
Primary Role
Tech Superintendent 1’s perform skilled work while supervising project execution and providing guidance to all personnel on an assigned project.
Responsibilities

Leads teams up to 10 team members and works hands on to install, repair, terminate, certify and troubleshoot devices and cabling of low voltage systems

Communicates with Tech Project Manager regarding completed tasks, potential issues, and manpower requirements in advance
-
Prepares progress reports, and works with Tech Project Manager to prepare monthly projections that are critical in accurately reflecting cash flow and profits
-
Ensures work is carried out safely and to industry standards; ensures standards for safe working conditions are observed

Manages and completes service calls that involve troubleshooting and identifying faults with one or more of the following systems: Copper (Analog systems), Fiber, Audio/Visual (AV) Cameras (CCTV)

Maintains task and punch lists for projects and oversees their completion

Works independently with minimal instruction or supervision to build out of MDF, IDF, Enclosures, Ladder Tray, Basket, and install 2-4 post racks

Requirements

Ability to teach teams those qualities

Knowledge of BICSI, ANSI, TIA standards and NEC codes for Low Voltage Installations

Ability to install one or more of the following without supervision: Head-end equipment, Switches, Horizontal Management, Vertical Management, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system, Patch cables, Cross Connect or Patch-in Copper, and/or Fiber systems as designed; terminates and splices fiber

Ability to identify differences in Multi-Mode and Single-Mode fiber

Ability to use certifiers and interpret copper and fiber test results

Ability to actively participate in leadership training when given the opportunity

Ability to identify any delays or obstacles of assigned task or service and communicate with immediate supervisor

Ability to work independently to determine and install pathways

Ability to understand and adhere to POE requirements for Cameras (CCTV)

Ability to obtain and change IP information on cameras as needed
-
Ability to maintain task and punch lists for projects and oversee their completion

Ability to maintain and plan inventory and materials for use on next day tasks, as well as weekly and two-week lookaheads

Ability to audit material for weekly and monthly look-ahead work

Ability to collaborate with Tech Project Manager to evaluate with field personnel working under their supervision, as needed

Ability to plan daily, weekly, and two-week look ahead tasks, including the continual pre-planning needed to achieve specified tasks and timelines

Ability to lead and coach teams of Technicians; capable of leading larger teams as needed

Ability to work with and around other construction trades in a professional, productive and safe manner

Ability to make skillful, controlled manipulations of small objects such as small electronic parts

Ability to perform skilled work while overcoming common environmental challenges such as working in cramped areas, overhead, at heights, and in a variety of weather conditions

Ability to think and act quickly in emergency situations and perform under pressure

Ability to complete tasks accurately and productively, always seeking guidance for any unclear aspects of the task and immediately seeking a new task when the current task is finished

Ability to obtain required Amteck safety certifications, communicate with team members regarding any safety deficiencies, and work safely without presenting a direct threat to self and others
