About the role

The Infrastructure Technician role involves installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting structured cabling systems, access control, security cameras, fire alarm systems, and automation infrastructure across various client environments. This is a client-facing position requiring extensive travel (up to 90%) to job sites across the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, and test structured cabling systems (CAT5e, CAT6, fiber optic)
  • Service and troubleshoot fire alarm, access control, CCTV, and AV systems
  • Diagnose and resolve system issues and perform repairs
  • Confirm project scope, materials, and readiness before site arrival
  • Document billable time, project progress, and inventory usage
  • Maintain and track company tools and client equipment
  • Communicate effectively with clients, team members, and leadership
  • Represent the company professionally in all interactions

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on field experience with infrastructure and low-voltage systems
  • Experience with structured cabling, including CAT5e, CAT6, and fiber optic installation, termination, and testing
  • Experience with access control systems, CCTV (IP cameras and NVRs), and fire alarm systems (inspection experience required)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical diagrams, and building layouts
  • Strong troubleshooting and repair skills across low-voltage and infrastructure systems
  • Physically capable of bending, standing, climbing, and working in confined or variable environments
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications and documentation tools
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Technical certifications (NICET, ESA, OSHA, or other low-voltage certifications)
  • Experience in client-facing field service roles
  • Familiarity with AV systems and integrated automation technologies
  • Basic engineering or systems design understanding
