Lounge Server

About the role

The Lounge Server sells and serves food and beverages in compliance with proper food handling, serving techniques, alcohol awareness, and all relevant policies, procedures, brand standards, and regulations. This role operates within a 24/7 environment, requiring flexibility in shift days, start/end times, and weekly hours.

Responsibilities

• Process guest bills and payments in compliance with cash handling, credit card processing, and accounting policies.
• Promptly report emergencies, accidents, injuries, missing articles, damage, engineering issues, and safety hazards to management.
• Report deviations from policies, procedures, brand standards, and regulations to management.
• Maintain knowledge of hotel facilities and services to assist guests as needed.
• Ensure all communications adhere to privacy policies and regulations.
• Set up and maintain cleanliness of tables, linen, silverware, and glassware.
• Clean tables, including proper removal and placement of soiled wares and trash.
• Know the menu and explain major ingredients and preparation methods to guests.
• Greet guests, take orders, and serve food and beverages following all relevant policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Monitor and immediately report incidents involving possible excessive alcohol consumption or impaired guests.
• Follow proper guest check and payment policies, including cash handling and credit card processing.
• Report all tips in compliance with company policy and IRS regulations.
• Prepare, maintain, and clean service stations before, during, and after shifts.
• Complete assigned sidework and related cleaning duties.
• Attend department meetings as scheduled.
• Maintain a professional and positive attitude when communicating with guests, vendors, and associates.
• Report guest dissatisfaction or significant incidents to management for corrective action.
• Comply with all sanitary, safety, security, and emergency procedures.
• Write shift reports, including documentation of theft, accidents, or injuries when assigned.
• Check with management before leaving the work area for any reason.
• Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by management.
• Participate in task forces and committees as requested.

Requirements

• High school education or related experience.
• Beverage server or alcohol awareness certification preferred.
• Familiarity with hospitality industry practices.
• Ability to provide friendly and efficient guest service.
• Knowledge of proper food handling, serving techniques, and federal, state, and local serving guidelines.
• Ability to process checks and payments in compliance with policies and procedures.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
• Effective listening and communication skills with a consistent professional attitude.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, while remaining flexible.
• Ability to satisfy legal requirements for employment within the jurisdiction.

Working Conditions & Physical Effort

Physical work is a primary part of the job, performed in an interior hotel environment with exposure to equipment, machines, extreme temperatures, chemicals, dirt, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noises. The role requires adherence to safety precautions and use of protective equipment.

• Extended standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
