About the Role
The Lounge Bartender will take orders, prepare, and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages as well as light meals to guests, courteously and efficiently according to hotel specifications. They will also maintain stock, supplies, and cleanliness of the outlet and equipment.
Potential career paths include F&B Supervisor, F&B Manager, Director of Food and Beverage, Director of Operations, General Manager, and VP of Food & Beverage.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.
- Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, liquor brands, beers, and non-alcoholic selections available in the assigned outlet.
- Strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons, and drunk driving.
- Obtain assigned bank and ensure accuracy of contracted monies; keep bank secure.
- Maintain complete knowledge of P.O.S. and manual systems.
- Greet guests, take orders (food and beverage), and utilize suggestive/up-selling techniques.
- Input orders into the system and verify transmission with Bartender/Kitchen.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of tables, service areas, and the outlet itself.
- Present guest checks and process payments through the Bartender/Cashier while adhering to all cash handling and credit policies/procedures.
- Clean and reset tables immediately after guests depart.
- Collect and report tips at the end of the assigned shift.
- Use all chemicals in accordance with OSHA regulations and Hotel requirements.
- Complete all closing reports in the P.O.S. system.
- Legibly document maintenance needs on work orders and submit to Manager.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 21 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.
- 1-year experience as a Server or Barback preferred but not required.
- Good understanding of the English language.
- Knowledge of various drink recipes and beverage service standards.
- Certification of previous training in liquor, wine, and food service.
- Certification in an alcohol awareness program.
- Certification in CPR.
- Ability to input and access information in property management systems, computers, and point-of-sale systems.
- Previous guest/customer relations training.
