What You Can Expect Working in the Lot Technician Position
The Lot Technician is an entry-level role responsible for performing repairs, modifications, and preventive maintenance on blast-resistant buildings, storage containers, and other industrial units in the service yard. This position ensures lease fleet units are clean, safe, functional, and ready for redeployment, meeting customer quality standards. Technicians apply basic construction, mechanical, and maintenance skills while supporting overall yard operations and receive hands-on training under the guidance of more experienced team members.
Responsibilities
- Assists in inspecting returned units to help identify necessary repairs under supervision.
- Supports cleaning, washing, and preparation of buildings to ensure they meet standards for redeployment.
- Begins learning and performing basic maintenance tasks in carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and welding, with guidance from more experienced technicians.
- Follows instructions to complete assigned tasks and participate in quality checks to ensure work meets standards.
- Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and units as directed, helping extend the life and readiness of the fleet.
- Maintains a safe, clean, and organized work environment by using PPE properly and learning safety procedures and protocols.
- Collaborates with team members and communicates effectively with the Service Lot Lead and other departments to complete tasks.
- Participates in general yard operations and assist with special projects or additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- No industry experience required.
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic arithmetic.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions consistently.
- Team player with solid communication skills.
- Basic computer literacy (e.g., email, work order systems).
- Able to obtain forklift or heavy equipment certification.
