About the role
We are looking for a dynamic individual that can thrive in a demanding and fast-paced environment. The Collision-Repair Estimator (Front-end) is responsible for appraising vehicle damages and preparing preliminary detailed repair estimates, including managing workflow of vehicle repair.
Responsibilities
- Manage the repair process for each assigned vehicle from initial drop-off through delivery, ensuring minimized cycle time, adherence to promised completion dates, and maximum shop efficiency while achieving production objectives set by management.
- Conduct the initial meeting with guests at drop-off, thoroughly examine and map all structural, body, mechanical, and interior damage, photograph vehicles during check-in, and create repair orders to initiate the repair process.
- Prepare detailed preliminary repair estimates, including labor and parts costs; determine feasibility of repair versus replacement of components such as bumpers, fenders, and doors; evaluate repair practicality compared to pre-accident market value; prepare and submit initial estimates, including AAA files as required.
- Submit estimates to insurance adjusters to ensure proper claim processing; follow up as needed to maintain workflow momentum and ensure receivables remain current; partner with the Office Manager to confirm payments are verified and received prior to vehicle release.
- Maintain and manage repair workflow throughout production, providing updates to guests during pre-teardown and active production phases, addressing parts concerns promptly, and ensuring repairs progress according to schedule.
- Serve as the secondary point of contact assisting back estimator for guest follow up and communication on the repair process, insurance procedures, motorist rights, repair techniques, safety considerations, and vehicle value impact; obtain necessary authorizations and respond to inquiries via phone, internet, and in person.
- Provide frequent repair status updates and document all communication accurately in the CCC system, including production milestones, parts status, and timeline expectations.
- Perform quality control inspections on completed repairs, including post-wash inspections, prepare final paperwork, and personally deliver the completed vehicle to the guest to ensure satisfaction and a positive experience.
- Train and mentor assigned Estimator Apprentice; maintain high ethical standards, professional appearance, and complete additional administrative duties as directed by CRC Management.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in appraising vehicle damage.
- Knowledge of automotive repair and paint required; Bureau of Automotive Repair rules and regulations.
- Mathematical principles (adding, subtracting, dividing, multiplying, and percentages).
- Ability to operate manual transmissions.
- Inspect vehicles to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
- Coordinate activities with other employees.
- Pay attention to detail.
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Read and comprehend instructions and information in the English language.
- Work well with the public.
- Communicate in a professional manner on the phone, internet and in person.
- Use standard office equipment.
- Valid driver’s license and maintain an acceptable and safe driving record.

- Frequent required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.

Pay
Per California Minimum Wage, wages include Base Hourly Rate of $16.90. The position may also pay commission compensation which is based on the value or amount of closed sales achieved from $0.00 (if no sales are made) without any upper limit other than sales performance. The position also may also pay a production bonus based on individual or team performance that may range from $0.00 (if baseline benchmarks are not met) without any fixed upper limit.
