Long Term Substitute - Upper School Spanish Teacher

About the role
Seattle Academy is seeking a long-term substitute Upper School Spanish teacher for the 2026-27 school year, starting August 17, 2026. This position involves teaching novice through intermediate students (levels 1-3) using a comprehensible input-based approach.
Responsibilities
- Teach Spanish to upper school students (grades 9-12) at novice through intermediate levels (1-3).
- Incorporate social-emotional learning competencies (social awareness, relationship skills, self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision-making) into instruction.
- Address student behavior and create an engaging learning environment.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, students, and administrative teams.
- Demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience teaching Spanish.
- Experience with comprehensible input-based teaching methods.
- Enthusiasm for working with upper school-aged students.
- Growth mindset and passion for the subject matter.
- Strong judgment, decision-making, and negotiation skills.

Pay
Annual salary range: $73,500 - $90,500 for 1-year long-term substitutes. Placement on the salary range is based on years of relevant teaching experience and level of degrees completed.
