Long-Term Substitute Teacher - Transition (Student Services)

Transition Teacher developing an individualized program for work training and work experience in community-based work sites for secondary students with disabilities.

Qualifications

• Valid PA certification in Special Education (N-12 or 7-12) required
• Valid PA certification in Cooperative Education (7-12) preferred (candidate will need to obtain Cooperative Education certification)
• Professional and friendly communication skills with an ability to grow and maintain relationships
• Upbeat and positive demeanor with ability to represent MCIU with business leaders
• Warm, flexible, and helpful personality; able to cope with needs and behavior patterns of children and withstand emotional stress
• Experience with students of a variety of diagnoses in community-based instruction
• Ability to act as leader within the team to grow student performance within the work setting
• Excellent organization and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and make work-related decisions with good judgement in student interaction
• Professional appearance
• Original certificates of clearance from the State Police, Child Abuse Registry, and PDE FBI

Responsibilities

• Partner with School Districts in Montgomery County
• Manage Site Coordinators/Job Coaches
• Place students in work experiences (paid/unpaid)
• Implement transitional goals in the workplace
• Lead Professional Development for Transition Staff
• Lead daily team meetings for staff
• Maintain and establish new transitional sites
• Work with agencies to ensure smooth transition to post-secondary employment
• Attend local Business Association meetings

Location: The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit is located in Norristown, PA and provides services to students in School Age K-12 and Non-Pub classrooms located throughout Montgomery County, PA.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 7.5 hours/day, 10 months (194 days/year).

Pay

• Bachelor's: $56,694/year
• Master's: $68,008/year
• Placement on salary schedule based on experience and/or education beyond the Master's Degree
