About the role
This position is for a long-term substitute special education teacher in middle school from September 29, 2026 through November 9, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Teach special education students following curriculum and lesson plans provided by the district.
- Implement behavior management strategies to support student learning and safety.
- Collaborate with other special education teachers and staff to provide consistent support to students.
Requirements
- Current N.J. teaching certification (Standard, CE, CEAS or Substitute Credential).
- Pass a mandatory criminal history background check.
- Experience working with special education students.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of special education best practices.
- Ability to adapt instruction to meet individual student needs.
- Proficiency in using technology to enhance teaching and learning.
