Long Term Substitute (SPED Teaching Assistant)

About the role

Pembroke Elementary School is seeking a long-term substitute teaching assistant to support the Special Education program. The ideal candidate will assist in providing educational support to students with special needs under the guidance of the principal or designee.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals
• Support students with daily activities and academic tasks
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to enhance student learning
• Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field
• Current Virginia teaching license or certification
• Experience working with students with special needs preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Knowledge of special education laws and regulations

• Proficiency in using technology tools for special education support
