Long Term Substitute Special Education Paraprofessional

This is a long-term substitute position providing support and supervision for level III special needs students with Autism Spectrum Disorder at Lincoln Elementary School. The role is 7 hours per day, 5 days per week, starting approximately 8/24/26 and ending approximately 10/9/26. Approximate starting pay is $21.25 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Support and supervise students with Autism Spectrum Disorder
• Implement strategies such as Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), visual schedules, social stories, and positive behavior supports
• Collect and report data as directed by the case manager
• Assist with personal care including toileting, lifting, diapering, feeding, motor activities, and medicating
• Lift up to 50 lbs and work with bodily fluids
• Substitute in the health office when needed, assisting with paraprofessional activities related to health office services
• Supervise students and perform routine record-keeping duties
• Render preliminary first aid steps and perform specialized health procedures as trained
• Maintain District-approved First Aid and CPR Certificates

Requirements

• High School Diploma required
• One of the following:
  • Two-year Associate of Arts degree; OR
  • The equivalent of 60 semester credits; OR
  • A portfolio demonstrating MN Core Competencies for Paraprofessionals; OR
  • A passing score on the MN Para Pro Test
• Experience working with students with special needs
• Ability and willingness to take direction from the case manager
• Trained or willingness to be trained in PECS, visual schedules, social stories, and positive behavior supports
• Trained or willing to be trained in certain medical procedures
• Ability to speak clearly and distinctly, demonstrate patience, warmth, and liking for children
• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions

Pay

Approximate starting pay is $21.25 per hour.
