This temporary position will serve children from birth to age 21 who are deaf or hard of hearing, including infants, preschoolers, and school-age students. The role is slated to begin in January 2026 and extend through April 2026, with a possible extension but no guarantee.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hearing support to deaf or hard-of-hearing students referred by school districts, preschool special education programs, and birth-to-three programs.
  • Plan and adapt educational programs to enable deaf and hearing-impaired students to benefit from their educational experience.
  • Assess and teach deaf and hearing-impaired students, develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and support the use of assistive technology and accommodations in school settings.
  • Educate students about the impact of their hearing loss on their education.
  • Consult with special and general education teachers to implement effective strategies and accommodations for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Requirements

  • Valid Pennsylvania Certification as a Teacher of Deaf/Hearing Impaired.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Dual certification in Deaf & Hard of Hearing and Special Education preferred.
  • PA Criminal History clearance, Child Abuse clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance (dated within the year).
  • Clearance as an MA provider by the Commonwealth of PA and federal government (conducted by CCIU upon hire).

Pay

  • 2026-27 School Year Salary Ranges:
    • $62,155 to $89,730 – Instructional I Certification
    • $64,834 to $93,324 – Instructional II Certification
    • $69,353 to $101,911 – Master’s Degree
    • $72,740 to $105,924 – Master’s +15 credits
    • $74,415 to $107,845 – Master’s +30 credits
