LONG TERM SUBSTITUTE

Position Summary

In the absence of the classroom teacher, the Long-Term Substitute provides instruction, encourages student progress, and manages the learning environment. This position ensures continuity of learning by maintaining established routines, delivering engaging lessons, and fostering a safe and positive classroom atmosphere.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Maintain established routines and procedures of the assigned school and classroom
• Create and deliver lesson plans or follow those outlined by the absent teacher
• Implement instructional strategies that promote quality academic and social development
• Maintain discipline and classroom control in accordance with district policies
• Create a learning environment conducive to growth, maturity, and student interests
• Meet and instruct assigned classes at designated times and locations
• Demonstrate professional practices in teaching and classroom management
• Model correct use of oral and written language
• Protect school records, equipment, materials, and facilities
• Report student injuries, illnesses, accidents, and disciplinary issues promptly
• Assign reasonable tasks and homework to support learning goals
• Remain at school during the entire day unless excused by administration
• Maintain punctuality, reliability, and professional appearance
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal or designated representative

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree required
• Massachusetts Licensure preferred
• Proficiency in English (oral and written)
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to collaborate with school staff and administration
• Prior teaching or substitute teaching experience preferred

Pay

$285 per diem
