Long Term Substitute Art

Job Summary

This Long-Term Substitute Teacher will be responsible for the instruction, progress, and discipline of all pupils in assigned classes. This position is a full-time role for the defined dates listed below and includes qualifying for benefits for that time period.

General Qualifications

• Professional Educator License or Substitute Teaching License issued by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE)
• Strong communication skills (written and oral)
• Prior substitute experience at Rantoul City Schools preferred

Duties

• Fills long-term substitute teaching needs including lesson planning and assessing student progress
• Attends parent-teacher conferences, trainings, and meetings as needed
• Communicates with parents as needed after consulting with administration
• Supervises students in various school-related settings
• Follows lesson plans and instructions provided by teachers, using appropriate resources when necessary
• Establishes and maintains positive learning expectations for all students
• Maintains accurate student attendance records
• Encourages student growth in self-discipline and positive self-concept; ensures fairness in teacher-student relationships and exhibits understanding and respect for students
• Manages classroom organization and cleans and organizes rooms at the end of the day
• Provides communication to the teacher at the end of the day regarding lesson plans and instructions

• Effective communication (verbal and written) with parents, colleagues, administration, and all other members of the educational community
• Maintain emotional control under stress
• Use web-based programs, e-mail, and technology (laptop, Smartboard, etc.) effectively

Salary and Benefits

• $243.36 per day for the defined dates
• Sick/personal days accumulate at a rate of 1 sick day and .25 personal day per continuous month worked

Other Duties

• Follow district procedures for reporting self-absences if assigned a classroom and unable to fulfill the duty
• Perform other duties as assigned
