About the role

Kennedy Catholic High School is a private Catholic high school located in Burien, Washington. Its mission is to cultivate a diverse community of learners who encounter Christ, pursue excellence, and lead with love. Kennedy Catholic is seeking a dynamic, self-directed educator to teach a full-time combination of English/Language Arts classes within the English Department as a long-term substitute beginning in December 2026 through the end of the school year (June 2027).

Responsibilities

• Instruction and curriculum development
• Assessment
• Classroom management and parent communication
• Collaboration with colleagues to ensure quality and consistency of overall program
• Willing participation in the co-curricular and ministerial life of the school
• Mentorship for student engagement
• Fulfillment of all additional supervision duties expected of full-time teachers

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in the specific content area (e.g., English, Communications)
• WA State Teaching Certificate or the ability to obtain one
• Master's degree preferred
• Familiarity with educational technology
• Recent classroom experience, preferably in a high school setting

• Teach a range of English classes
• Demonstrate flexibility and resourcefulness
• Create and implement authentic assessments (formative and summative) appropriate to the English courses assigned
• Use technology as a tool in the classroom
• Work with a wide variety of high school students in a multicultural setting

• Meet individual student needs in the development of department goals and restructuring of the curriculum
• Collaborate with colleagues including team teaching and professional learning communities

Pay

Any offered salary is determined based on the length of the long-term substitution assignment, internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications. Salary is dependent upon experience, certification, and education according to Kennedy Catholic's faculty compensation schedule. For the 2026-2027 school year, a teacher's salary ranges between $59,320 and $112,590.
