About the role
The Dayton Early College Academy (DECA) is a charter school network serving grades K-12 in Dayton, Ohio. DECA focuses on preparing students for college and beyond, with a particular emphasis on students from the city of Dayton who are often first-generation college attendees.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a positive role model for students
- Achieve academic, social, and personal goals for students
- Assess student strengths and needs
- Develop meaningful relationships with students and their families
- Be available for education-related purposes outside of regular hours
- Implement DECA High's mission and goals
- Plan and implement a program of instruction tailored to each student's needs
- Report student progress through quarterly reports, phone calls, and weekly meetings
- Attend faculty meetings and staff development sessions
- Facilitate additional academic, social, and health services for students
- Mediate student conflicts
- Maintain accurate records on each student
- Employ various educational techniques to support student growth
- Collaborate with the school team on academic and social intervention strategies
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal
Requirements
- Valid Ohio teaching license for assigned grade and/or subjects, or Ohio Substitute Teaching License
- Prior relevant experience preferred
- Effective interpersonal skills with children and adults
- A broad range of interests and experience with a passion for learning
- Knowledge of state and national academic content standards and IDEA rules and procedures
- Basic knowledge in all core content areas
- Knowledge of pedagogical theories, perspectives, and developments
- Sound classroom management skills
- Ability to improvise and work through uncertainties
- Experience with technology-integration in teaching and learning
- Effectiveness in an interdisciplinary, teamed environment
- Collegiality and eagerness to participate in student-centered school activities
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Entrepreneurial spirit

Qualifications

Schedule
