About the role
MercyOne Dyersville Senior Care is seeking a Long Term Care Registered Nurse (RN) to join our compassionate team. This position offers immediate access to medical care, a supportive community, and a variety of long-term care services.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate care provided to residents by LPNs, CNAs, and other nursing team members.
- Practice with compassion and respect for the dignity, worth, and uniqueness of each resident.
- Ensure the health, safety, and rights of residents are protected.
- Determine appropriate delegation of tasks based on acuity and team member capabilities.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to plan interventions and outcomes.
- Evaluate patient responses to interventions and modify plans accordingly.
- Implement the plan of care, including procedures, treatments, and medications.
- Coordinate with other health care disciplines for comprehensive care.
- Participate in developing and implementing discharge plans.
- Utilize research and evidence-based practice standards in patient care.
- Engage in continuous improvement through innovation and problem-solving.
- Support nursing shared governance and interdisciplinary decision-making.
Requirements
- Adhere to MercyOne’s Model of Caring and Code of Conduct.
- Maintain a working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.
- Use personal protective equipment and infection control standards.
- Follow departmental emergency procedures and report unsafe equipment/furniture.
- Ensure proper visitor entry and maintain a safe working environment.
- Communicate with interdisciplinary team members and complete nursing rounds.
- Document care completely, comprehensively, and legibly.
- Practice within the legal scope of a registered professional nurse.
- Delegated activities and care tasks to CNAs.
- Initiate resident problem lists and incorporate medical history into the plan of care.
- Analyze and interpret assessment data to identify desired outcomes.
- Make appropriate referrals and coordinate with various departments.
- Coordinate physician rounds and manage residents' medications.
- Complete monthly unit changeovers and administer vaccines.
- Communicate with the Director/MDS Coordinator and business office.
- Support nursing shared governance and interdisciplinary decision-making.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN).
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa.
- Experience in long-term care preferred.
- Knowledge of long-term care services and regulations.
Skills
- Strong clinical judgment and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration with interdisciplinary team members.
- Ability to prioritize and implement interventions based on patient assessment.
- Proficiency in computer systems and applications required for role.
- Competency in administering vaccines and immunizations.

Pay
$20.00 - $25.00 per hour based on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
Full-time 36 hours per week, rotating 12-hour shifts (5a-5p), with 2 weekend shifts in a 6-week period.
