About the Role
The Logistics Transportation Analyst plans and executes weekly and daily interplant transfers of raw, ingredient, and packaging materials from central warehouses to manufacturing locations. This role arranges transportation and executes Stock Transport Orders (STOs) from manufacturing sites to distribution centers and outbound 3PLs, ensuring materials are available in the right quantities to support production and distribution.
Responsibilities
- Review Stock Transfer Requisitions (STRs) in SAP to organize material movements between staging, raw materials, intermediate/WIP/packaging, and finished goods warehouses.
- Convert STRs into Stock Transport Orders (STOs) and build/organize truck shipments using SAP.
- Coordinate truckloads for raw materials, semi-finished, and finished goods from warehouses to manufacturing sites, outbound DCs, and 3PLs.
- Ensure warehouses are supplied with correct quantities at the right time to prevent shortages or overstocking.
- Move finished goods to regional DCs and 3PLs using SAP to execute STOs and build trucks.
- Serve as the primary contact between Production, Warehouse, Outbound DCs, 3PLs, and Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP) for material movement.
- Proactively communicate material availability issues or risks and propose solutions.
- Collaborate with warehouse staff to ensure timely delivery of materials and finished goods.
- Follow cGMP and SOP requirements in material handling and documentation.
- Support continuous improvement of material flow processes to minimize waste and increase efficiency.
- Maintain records and documentation for audits and regulatory compliance.
- Monitor and report on key transportation metrics (e.g., on-time delivery rates, freight cost variances, inventory accuracy) to drive improvement.
- Adhere to warehouse safety protocols and OSHA regulations for material movements and truck loading.
- Manage interactions with 3PL providers and transportation carriers to meet service level agreements (SLAs).
- Act as a power user or first-line support for SAP issues related to inventory transactions, STO processing, and material master data errors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations, Business Administration, or Engineering; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Preferred: Professional certifications such as APICS (CSCP or CPIM), Lean Six Sigma, or project management certification.
- 2–4 years of experience in logistics, transportation, and SAP.
- 2–4 years of experience in DRP, material planning, inventory control, production scheduling, or warehouse coordination (manufacturing environment preferred; food/supplements/pharma a plus).
- Detail-oriented and highly organized with excellent record-keeping ability.
- Strong communication and coordination skills across departments.
- Knowledge of cGMP, FDA, or other regulated industry requirements is a plus.
- Analytical skills to calculate requirements from BOMs and production schedules.
