Position Summary

The Logistics Section Chief (LC) is responsible for providing overall management and support to facilities, services, and material in support of the incident. The LC participates in the development and implementation of the Incident Action Plan (IAP) and activates and supervises the Branches and Units within the Logistics Section. The LC oversees and directs the activities of the Support Branch, and the Mutual Aid Branch.

Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the State Logistics Response Center (SLRC) to prioritize support requirements, identify hardest-hit counties, and provide mission guidance.
  • Collaborate with ESF-6 and NGOs to rapidly deploy field kitchens and cantinas.
  • Ensure ESF-7 DMS secures land or buildings through lease, RRF, or MOA for staging areas, forward operating bases, base camps, warehouses, or to replace damaged or destroyed facilities.
  • Cook with the National Guard to support Logistics Staging Area (LSA) operations.
  • Cook with the National Guard to support Logistics Staging Area (LSA) operations.
  • Coordinate with ESF-11 to project and procure food, water, and ice needs.
  • Work with the National Guard to support Logistics Staging Area (LSA) operations.
  • Coordinate with ESF-19 Fuels on fueling provisions for the response effort.
  • Aid on portions of projects and ensure all aspects are completed as outlined in the contract scope of work and timeline.
  • Attend meetings and conference calls with clients.
  • Maintain currency of and compliance with applicable state and federal policies, procedures, and guidance documents for applicable roles.
  • Provide service and support for assigned resources.
  • Communicate changes in logistical support to incident resources.
  • Evaluate and monitor current situation to determine if present plan of action will meet incident objectives.
  • Participate in the preparation of the IAP or relevant plan.
  • Review tactical plans for operational periods.
  • Advises on current capabilities and limitations for service and support.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive customer and internal information.
  • Capable of multi-tasking when necessary.
  • Strong familiarity with state and local governments is necessary.

  • Ability to be flexible and make quick decisions as disasters change and develop.

Supervisory Responsibilities

May have lead responsibilities within projects or small teams depending on function with senior level support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or other applicable field.
  • Experience and knowledge of working within the Incident Command Framework at state or federal levels.
  • Experience with financial management applications.
  • Experience working in an Emergency Operations Center or disaster response, including at least 2 activations or exercises in a supervisory or key support capacity.
  • Capable of critical decision-making in a highly charged and dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel.
  • The following training courses must be completed prior to requesting the task book: IS-100, IS-200, ICS-300, ICS-400 IS-700, IS-800, E/G/L-0191, E/L-0958, O-0305.
  • Five or more years professional experience in emergency management.
  • Master's degree in Emergency Management or a related field.
  • Applicable Certifications: Certified Emergency Manager (CEM).
  • Proficient with Web EOCICS position-specific certification preferred.

Additional Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without employer sponsored visa is required.
  • We are not able to employ those located outside of the US.
  • Must pass company and any applicable client background check and reference check upon offer of employment.
