Logistics Manager

Responsibilities

• Maintains departmental KPI’s and goals.
• Assists in setting strategic direction for Warehouse and Shipping initiatives.
• Establishes standard operating practices.
• Aids in developing and analyzing yearly operational budgets.
• Provides strategic leadership for departmental issues.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Directs and coordinates warehouse and shipping activities.
• Makes improvements to warehouse and shipping department performance.
• Develops proactive strategies to address shipping order accuracy and timeliness.
• Manages all business operations including reviewing actual vs. budget, employee management, training, and staffing.
• Negotiates freight costs with carriers.
• Develops and implements warehouse and shipping work instructions, policies, and procedures.
• Reviews shipping claims and negotiates with freight carriers.
• Holds regular meetings with department staff.
• Identifies staffing needs, interviews, hires, and trains staff.
• Provides guidance, training, and direction to subordinates.
• Manages inventory maintenance, stock locations, and enforces housekeeping standards.
• Identifies and resolves safety concerns.

Qualifications

• Working Conditions: Requires access to all areas in the plant.
• Physical Demands: Regularly stands or sits, and moves about the facility.
• Education and Formal Training: Bachelor's degree required.
• Certifications: CSCP, CPIM, Six Sigma Black Belt, Lean Certification, etc. - desired.
• Experience: 5+ years Warehouse/Shipping Leadership Experience; experience with 'Lean' material management and SAP software preferred.
• Management Experience: Employee Reviews, Employee Relations, Training, Hiring, Terminating & Developing.
• Materials and Equipment Used: Office Equipment, Database & Query Software, ERP Software, Procurement Software - SAP system.
