POSITION TITLE: Logistics and Material Supply Manager COMPENSATION: Competitive Salary + DOE BENEFITS: Standard package LOCATION: Baton Rouge, LA SUMMARY: The Logistics and Material Supply Manager is responsible for overseeing trucking operations, material supply coordination, and stockpile management across multiple project sites Duties Or Responsibilities Oversee all trucking operations across multiple project sites, ensuring alignment with project delivery schedules and operational priorities. Collaborate with Project Managers and the Materials Manager to assess and fulfill daily trucking requirements. Allocate trucking resources to optimize capacity, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Provide daily trucking forecasts, including trucks required, committed, and received. Continuously adjust trucking plans to reflect changes in material demand and project schedules. Manage and provide direction to the Trucking Coordinator and site spotters to ensure efficient on-site execution. Coordinate closely with Superintendents, equipment operators, and field teams to support loading, unloading, and material handling operations. Provide on-site support as needed to oversee logistics execution and resolve real-time challenges. Participate in project meetings and calls to represent logistics operations and proactively address issues. Source, onboard, and manage third-party trucking companies and independent haulers. Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure reliable trucking capacity and competitive pricing. Ensure all carriers comply with company safety standards, contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements. Receive and process daily material delivery orders from Project Teams and coordinate fulfillment.Maintain stockpile inventory levels, track quantities, and reconcile discrepancies or material loss. Coordinate stockpile loading operations with field personnel to ensure efficient material handling. Develop and maintain pricing structures for stockpiled materials for both internal projects and external customers. Coordinate trucking schedules with barge and rail operations to ensure seamless integration and continuity of supply. Support marine and rail logistics functions as needed to maintain alignment across all transportation modes. Provide trucking rate data and capacity insights to Estimating teams for project bids. Support cost forecasting efforts by delivering accurate logistics pricing and resource availability. Monitor transportation costs and identify opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements. Track, analyze, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to trucking operations, material supply, and port/pit performance. Deliver daily and weekly operational reports, including trucking performance and inventory status. Drive continuous improvement initiatives based on performance data and operational trends. Ensure all logistics operations adhere to company safety policies, customer requirements, and applicable regulations. Maintain proper documentation and reporting standards across all logistics activities. Participate in weekend and after-hours on-call rotations to support critical project needs. Support broader logistics and supply chain initiatives as assigned. Experience And Qualifications 5+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, materials management, or supply chain, preferably in construction, aggregates, or heavy civil. Proven experience managing multi-site trucking operations, third-party carriers, and independent haulers. Strong knowledge of material logistics, stockpiles, inventory, loading/unloading, and delivery coordination. Experience forecasting trucking needs, allocating resources, managing capacity, and adjusting schedules. Proven ability to source, negotiate with, and manage trucking vendors and maintain competitive rates. Knowledge of DOT, safety, carrier compliance, and transportation regulations. Experience with cost tracking, forecasting, estimating support, and KPI reporting. Familiarity with barge, rail, port, and pit logistics is a plus. Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to coordinate Project Managers, Superintendents, field teams, drivers, and vendors. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and logistics/inventory systems.
