Locums General Surgeon

About the role

Hospital-based general surgeon needed for weekend call coverage from Friday 7am to Monday 7am. Responsibilities include seeing approximately 4 patients, managing 4 admissions, and handling 4 phone consults within a 24-hour period. The role requires in-person response to beeper calls within 45 minutes.

Responsibilities

• Perform surgeries, including laparoscopic appendectomy, cholecystectomy, and hernioplasty
• Respond to emergencies and manage patient care in a hospital setting
• Provide in-person response to beeper calls within 45 minutes
• See approximately 4 patients, manage 4 admissions, and handle 4 phone consults per 24-hour period

Requirements

• Board certification in general surgery (mandatory)
• Skills in vascular, breast, and hand surgery
• GI endoscopy skills (upper, lower, colonoscopy) highly preferred
