Locum | Physician General Surgery

About the role

You will work in a hospital setting providing inpatient, OR, ED, and clinic coverage. Your CompHealth recruiter serves as your single point of contact, backed by dozens of specialized teams that handle housing, travel, credentialing, licensing, and other details. The recruiter takes care of every aspect of your assignment.

Responsibilities

• Clinic averages 5–10 patients per clinic day.
• Inpatient, consults, and ED vary from 3–6 patients per day.
• OR cases average 3–6 per week.
• Bread‑and‑butter general surgery: laparoscopic cases approximate 96% of the time.
• All diagnostic endoscopies (EGD, colonoscopies) are required.
• Patients older than 1 year (pediatric) and adults are treated.

Requirements

• Ability to perform all diagnostic endoscopies, EGD, and colonoscopies.
• Experience with laparoscopic general surgery (bread‑and‑butter cases).
• Comfort treating both adult and pediatric patients (>1 year).

Skills

• Proficiency in laparoscopic techniques.
• Endoscopic diagnostic skills (EGD, colonoscopy).
• Ability to manage inpatient, OR, ED, and clinic workflows.

Pay

Negotiated better pay deposited weekly.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 7:30 am–4:30 pm; variable OR days with call rotation.
