About the role

This contract-based, on-site position offers an opportunity for an experienced Nurse Practitioner to provide hospitalist care in a supportive medical practice environment. You will manage patient admissions, conduct thorough assessments, develop treatment plans, and collaborate with attending physicians and multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. This role is ideal for a professional who thrives in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive hospitalist care to patients, including admissions, daily rounds, and discharges
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, history taking, and physical examinations
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized treatment plans in collaboration with attending physicians
  • Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests and lab work as appropriate
  • Prescribe medications and manage patient medications according to established protocols
  • Document patient care accurately and promptly in the electronic health record (EHR) system
  • Coordinate care with specialists, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care
  • Respond to urgent and emergent patient needs, providing timely intervention and stabilization
  • Educate patients and their families on diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
  • Participate in hospital quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher in Nursing with Nurse Practitioner certification
  • Active Nurse Practitioner license in Oregon or ability to obtain licensure
  • Associate-level experience as a Nurse Practitioner with prior hospitalist or acute care experience preferred
  • Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP), or similar relevant specialty
  • Board certification required
  • Current CPR and BLS/ACLS certifications
  • Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a focus on patient-centered care
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and standard medical software

Schedule

9 a.m. to 7 p.m., specific dates
Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and nights as required by the hospitalist schedule
