Pay

$4,000 – $4,500 per day

Schedule and Coverage

  • 24-hour on-call shift coverage
  • Standard 7-day, 24-hour shifts (07:00 – 07:00)
  • Assignment length: 26 weeks
  • Start date: October 5, 2026

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat a wide range of digestive system disorders in adults and potentially children (depending on the position)
  • Conduct comprehensive patient histories and physical examinations
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as endoscopies, X-rays, CT scans, and blood tests
  • Perform endoscopic procedures to diagnose and treat digestive conditions (depending on the scope of practice)
  • Develop and implement treatment plans
  • Manage chronic digestive conditions and provide ongoing patient care
  • Collaborate with surgeons, radiologists, and other specialists when needed to ensure coordinated care
  • Educate patients on digestive health and disease prevention
  • Maintain accurate and complete medical records for all patients
  • Stay current on the latest advancements in gastroenterology through continuing education

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school
  • Residency training program in internal medicine accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA)
  • Fellowship training in gastroenterology (may be preferred depending on the position)
  • Board certification in gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or the AOA
  • Active and unrestricted medical license in Tennessee
  • At least one year of experience providing gastroenterology care in a clinical or hospital setting (preferred)

  • In-depth knowledge of gastroenterology principles and practices, including diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of digestive diseases
  • Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients and collaborate effectively with healthcare teams
  • Technical proficiency in performing endoscopic procedures (if applicable)
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for endoscopic procedures
  • Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to adapt to changing patient conditions
  • Time management and organizational skills to manage a patient workload effectively
